Incumbents Honours Board for St Aldhelm's Chapel, Lytchett Heath, Hampshire

This chapel was designed by George Crickmay and built 1898 for private use, I believe that it still
has that status. It's a very attracive grade 11 listed building, access is quite limited.
but if you're passing by it is well worth a look.
The incumbents honours board is made from a crown oak veneered panel with a solid
moulded frame on all four sides, it measures 850mm x 850mm x 36mm deep and is fixed
to the wall with a split batten french cleat system.
Bear in mind that curved framing is time consuming to make and adds a fair bit
to the cost when compared a rectangular honours board.
The italic lettering is based on a pen made style that a traditional signwriter
could reproduce with a chisel edged sable brush.
The names listed go back to the first incumbent George Jellicoe in 1899.

Types of Borders & Frames

This incumbents board has a relatively simple moulded oak frame
Physical frames are sometimes stucturally necessary but are not always required.
The purpose of a frame is sometimes to do nothing more than
act as a border that restrains the viewer's eye from wandering and focuses their attention
on the information contained within the frame, a simple gold borderline can function as a frame.
This incumbents board has a curved top edge which adds a lot of complexity and time
required to complete the work. A framed honours board with a curved edge will cost
quite a lot more than a rectangular framed board.
